Research

PCMLP has a rich experience in research in the field of freedom of expression, media regulation (both self- and co-regulation), telecommunications, media ownership and reform. PCMLP’s research is well-known in Europe and the former communist countries in Eastern Europe and Russia. Other important projects include research on hatespeech, policies and practices of information intervention and the role of ICTs in developing countries.

More recently, PCMLP has been extending its research and network into Asia and Africa. Deepening this area of study is a major priority for enhancing PCMLP’s global perspective. To this end, a significant portion of our current research focuses on media law and regulation in transitioning situations and media policy in fragile states.
