Yik Chan Chin


Dr. Yik Chan Chin was the first Shell Fellow in Media Law and Policy. She gained an MA in transnational communication and global media at the University of London and a PhD in Media and Communication in the University of Westminster. 

Before coming to the UK, she worked for News Corporation’s STAR TV in Hong Kong. Dr. Chin’s research interests include media and communication policy, media and public interest, globalisation, modernity and media in China. Her research has been published in both English and Chinese Journals such as Javnost/The Public, Media Development, Journalism and Communication Studies Review as well as in international conferences. She has also been invited by various news media including the BBC, the Guardian and the Sunday Herald to comment on China’s media and politics. She is now working on a book chapter about China’s broadcasting policy and its implications on programmes, which will be published this year.
