Collen Chambwera’s research interests include journalism practice and media and democracy. He has researched on the evolution of business news production practices in Zimbabwe, and the practice of journalism in political transition, social media and elections focusing on citizen participatory practices in democratically constricted environments, and the political economy of SVOD platforms growth in South Africa. He is currently working on researches that include journalism practice in era of (dis)infordemics, internet (non)regulation and implications for media and democracy, and artificial intelligence adoption in Africa. Prior to joining academia, Collen worked in insurance, ICT, and community radio in Zimbabwe. He holds a PhD in Communication Studies from University of Johannesburg (South Africa), Master of Social Science in Media and Cultural Studies from University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), and Bachelor of Science in Media and Society Studies from Midlands State University (Zimbabwe).
